About
EJ Carrión is an entrepreneur, community organizer, and co-host of the 817 Podcast working to build people-powered civic infrastructure across Fort Worth and Tarrant County. EJ is the founder and former CEO of Student Success Agency, an education technology company that has connected students across hundreds of schools in more than 20 states with academic, wellness, and college and career support. Under his leadership, the company was named to the Inc. 5000 list of America’s fastest-growing private companies in 2022 and 2023.
Today, EJ focuses on building community power in Fort Worth. He co-hosts the 817 Podcast alongside former City Councilmember Ann Zadeh, producing nearly 300 episodes examining the politics, institutions, and decisions shaping Tarrant County while helping residents turn information into action.
That mission extends into 817 Gather, a progressive community bringing residents, organizers, and activists together through monthly gatherings, coalition-building, and grassroots campaigns. EJ has organized around voting access, public education, racial and economic equity, responsible development, and government accountability.
His work has been featured by The Washington Post, The Guardian, Texas Monthly, KERA, and the Texas Observer. EJ lives in Fort Worth’s West Meadowbrook neighborhood with his rescued Rottweiler, Genesis
